Miami pest control

We are Florida's top experts in wildlife and raccoon control. We are not a typical Miami raccoon control or pest control company. We don't treat wild animals like insects, because they are not! You can't just use poison to get rid of them. You also can't just set a few traps on the ground and call it good. Each situation is unique. And remember, if you have raccoons living in your house, it is almost certainly a female with a litter of young inside. These juveniles must be removed by hand, or they will starve to death and die. And after they are gone, the entry holes into the house must be sealed with professional repairs. Unlike most Miami pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas with professional grade steel
  • If in attic, we remove the baby raccoons by hand
  • Technical and human raccoon trapping appropriate to situation
  • When necessary, we clean raccoon droppings and replace insulation

Miami Raccoon Control Tip: How Do I Know if There Are Baby Raccoons in the Attic?
We all have a soft spot for babies - whether it's human babies, puppies, or even kittens. Just like any other baby, baby raccoons (known as kits) also look cute. But in time, these tiny little creatures will grow into ferocious masked bandits that can wreak immense damage in your attic. If you don't want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars in repairs and clean up, you must get rid of baby raccoons and their mother from your attic. But how can you tell if there are kits in your attic?

Why Are There Baby Raccoons in Your Attic?
When female raccoons are close to delivery, they seek out a safe and warm spot where they can build their nest to raise their babies. In the wild, they reside in hollow trees and ground burrows. However, urban raccoons have learned that attics are also a great place to raise their young. Aside from being cozy, it also provides added protection against predators.

Consequently, female raccoons will find their way in, typically by breaking through vulnerable points to gain access to the attic. They then build their nest by bringing in foreign materials, as well as ripping off the insulation and wires.

After giving birth, the mother and her kits will remain there for the next three months until the babies are strong enough to venture into the outside world.

Tell-Tale Signs Baby Raccoons Are in Your Attic
If you do nothing within those three months, these raccoons will cause enormous damage to your attic. Therefore, it's best if you discover the problem in time so you can promptly resolve it. These are some signs to watch out for to know if there are baby raccoons in your attic.

  • Visual Sightings
If you see a female raccoon going and coming out of your attic, there's a strong chance it has its babies there. Female raccoons will typically leave their nest at dusk to forage for food. They then return to feed their kits.

When you see the raccoon leave, you can inspect your attic. The chittering sounds of the babies will lead you to them. Make sure you wear protective clothing to prevent the spread of diseases.

  • Protruding Nipples
If you trap a raccoon on your property, make sure you observe its breast if it's a female. If her nipples are sticking out, that's an indication that she's actively breastfeeding her kits - and that means that she has babies. Those babies may be in your basement, attic, chimney, or out in the wild. That's why you need to carry out a thorough inspection to confirm.

  • Vocal Sounds
Baby raccoons have a distinctive chitter sound that easily gives them away. It is a pretty complex sound consisting of vibrations, warbles, screeches, and chitters. Their sound is very distinct from the sound of rodents. Since raccoons typically have between two to five babies in a litter, overlapping chitters tell you there are multiple babies there.

  • Littering of Nesting Materials, Droppings, and Prints
If you observe nesting materials, droppings, and raccoon prints scattered around your property, that's a strong indication of high-raccoon activity. Chances are you have a raccoon living on your property. And as we've indicated, a female raccoon is likely to nest in your property to raise her young ones.

How to Deal with Baby Raccoons in Your Attic
If you're convinced there are baby raccoons in your attic, then you have two main options. First, you can opt to leave them alone till they're old enough to leave. When this happens, you can seal up all entry holes, clean up your attic and carry out the necessary repairs. But as we've highlighted, this option is costly.

Alternatively, you can involve a wildlife removal company to remove the kits and their mother. The common approach is to first capture the kits and put them in a cage. The babies are then used to lure their mother into the cage. Thereafter, both the mother and her babies are relocated. The necessary repair and clean up jobs are then carried out.
